Overheating Modelling

Energy efficiency requirements have led to buildings becoming increasingly airtight. Combining these with architectural trends for large amounts of glazing, has resulted in numerous modern buildings experiencing issues of overheating.

Our computer modelling is able to mitigate these issues by calculating internal temperatures throughout the year on a room by room basis.

By creating a 3D model of the building and surrounding site, the heating effect of the sun can be quantified along with other sources of heat such as people, lighting and equipment.

With a functioning model, numerous different temperature control strategies can be tested including:

These methods can be applied to new buildings during their design, or to observed issues in existing buildings.
